Adonten Senior High School Wins JA Ghana’s 2026 National Business Pitch Competition
Accra, Ghana, 28 September 2026 — Adonten Senior High School has emerged as the winner of the 2026 National Business Pitch Competition (NBPC) organized by Junior Achievement Ghana (JA Ghana), following a showcase of innovation, entrepreneurship and student-led business solutions from across Ghana.
Aburi Girls’ Senior High School placed second, while Archbishop Porter Girls’ Senior High School secured third place at the national competition held on Saturday, 26 September 2026, at the GNAT Hall in Accra.
Held under the theme “Augmenting Innovation,” NBPC 2026 brought together finalist student companies that had progressed through JA Ghana’s Company Program, where students gained practical experience in developing business ideas, creating products and services, managing teams, solving problems and pitching their ventures.
The competition provided students with a platform to demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, business acumen, and their ability to transform ideas into practical solutions to real-world challenges. As national winners, Adonten Senior High School will represent Ghana at the regional Company of the Year (COY) Competition in Cape Town, South Africa. The winning team also received a GHS 10,000 cash prize.
Speaking on the significance of the competition, JA Ghana Executive Director, Edem Amesu-Addor, said: “The JA Company Program is a 16-week extra-curricular training on entrepreneurship which ends with the NBPC. It represents the culmination of a journey in which students move from ideation to implementation. What we have witnessed is not simply a competition, but young people demonstrating the confidence, creativity and practical skills needed to become entrepreneurs. It is important that we see these young people as having a lot of potential. When given the right platform, they can bring solutions to many of the challenges we face as a country. This can be achieved when the right partnerships are formed and the necessary support is provided to transform their ideas into impact.”
Beyond the overall competition results, several teams were recognized for outstanding performance across different aspects of the entrepreneurial journey. Adonten SHS received the Turf Entrepreneurial Spirit Award and the PMIEF Project Management Award. St. Peter’s SHS received the Carmeuse Public Choice Award and the Peter Gbedemah AI Award, while Keta SHS received the Team Resilience Award. The Best Facilitator Award, Nana Kwadwo Asiedu Asare from Adonten Senior High School, was recognized for outstanding support provided to the participating student teams.
The focus on innovation and technology was further highlighted by Dr. Ing. Michael Wilson, who said:
“Ghana must begin to localize Artificial Intelligence to reflect local reality. We must find a way to get our youth to appreciate that technology does not stand on its own, but merges into existing fields to make them better.”
His remarks reinforced the 2026 theme, “Augmenting Innovation,” which encouraged students to explore how emerging technologies can strengthen existing ideas, products and processes through creativity and critical thinking.
The 2026 NBPC was supported by Carmeuse, Peter Gbedemah, Project Management Institute Educational Foundation (PMIEF), Delta Air Lines, Turf, Delta Paper Mill, Jibuco Ghana Limited, MacBerry Biscuit, Verna and Bigoo. Their support contributed to providing students with practical opportunities to develop their entrepreneurial, project management, innovation, and problem-solving capabilities.
The National Business Pitch Competition forms part of JA Ghana’s commitment to preparing young people with practical skills and experiences for entrepreneurship, employment and economic participation. Through the Company Program, students move beyond theoretical learning to experience the process of developing, managing and presenting a business.
As Adonten Senior High School prepares to represent Ghana at the regional competition in Cape Town, JA Ghana will continue to support the team as they refine their enterprise and prepare to showcase Ghanaian student innovation on the regional stage.
