JA Ghana Engages Education Stakeholders in Volta Region to Strengthen Financial Literacy and Partnerships

Ho, Volta Region – August 27, 2026: Junior Achievement Ghana (JA Ghana) joined education sector stakeholders in the Volta Region for an engagement organized by the Volta Regional Directorate of Education to strengthen collaboration and improve education delivery across the Region.

Held at the Mawuli School Conference Hall in Ho under the theme “Strengthening Partnerships for Improved Learning Outcomes and Equitable Access to Quality Education in the Volta Region,” the engagement brought together representatives from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs) and other development partners working within the education sector.

The engagement provided a platform for participating organizations to share their interventions, achievements, challenges and future plans, while exploring opportunities for stronger coordination and collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Representing JA Ghana, the organization presented its Cha-Ching Financial Literacy Programme, highlighting the importance of equipping children with practical financial knowledge and responsible money habits from an early age.

The Cha-Ching programme introduces learners to four key financial principles: Earn, Save, Spend and Donate. Through child-friendly, practical and interactive approaches, the programme helps learners develop foundational financial knowledge that can influence their decisions both inside and outside the classroom.

The presentation also emphasized the important role teachers play as patrons and facilitators of the programme, helping to reinforce financial literacy lessons among learners.

Beyond the classroom, financial literacy has the potential to extend to families and communities as children share the knowledge, attitudes and values they acquire through the programme.

The engagement also provided stakeholders with an opportunity to gain insight into the state of education in the Volta Region, including learner performance, teacher development and other factors affecting education delivery.

Discussions emphasized the important role of development partners in complementing the efforts of the Ghana Education Service. Stakeholders were encouraged to engage education authorities early in the design and implementation of interventions to ensure that programmes respond to identified needs and are appropriately coordinated.

The Regional Education Directorate further called on partners to strengthen collaboration, align interventions with GES priorities, focus on underserved schools and communities, minimize duplication and support initiatives that directly contribute to improved teaching and learning outcomes.

For JA Ghana, the engagement reinforced the importance of working closely with education stakeholders to expand opportunities for young people to develop the knowledge, skills and mindset needed to thrive.

As part of the way forward, JA Ghana highlighted opportunities to expand the Cha-Ching Financial Literacy Programme to more schools, strengthen teacher training and support, encourage greater parental involvement and enhance monitoring of the programme’s impact.

JA Ghana remains committed to preparing young people for economic participation by equipping them with practical skills in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness.

The engagement with the Volta Regional Directorate of Education represents another opportunity to strengthen relationships within the education ecosystem and explore collaborative approaches that can deliver meaningful and sustainable outcomes for learners.

Through programmes such as Cha-Ching supported by Prudential Foundation, JA Ghana continues to support the development of financially responsible, confident and empowered young people who are better prepared to make informed decisions about their future.
